NEWS Flash: Welcome To The NEW NSCoPSE Website

Our Mission

NSCoPSE is committed to maintaining the focus on a broad concept of personal and social education, encompassing not only the new national curriculum elements of PSHE education and citizenship but also education for sustainability, careers and work-related education.

We believe that opportunities for personal and social development are a fundamental entitlement of all pupils and that these can be most effectively provided by a whole school, whole curriculum approach to personal and social education.

What does NSCoPSE stand for?

NSCoPSE's Statement of Beliefs:

• All young people are entitled to opportunities for personal and social development
which:

· Enable them to become effective learners
· Supports them as they move from childhood through adolescence
to become independent young people

• Programmes of personal and social education can help young people to:

· Acquire the knowledge and understanding of themselves, of others
and the world they live in
· Develop skills for living
· Understand and manage their emotions
· Become socially and morally responsible
· Take on a range of roles and relationships
· Value themselves and respect others
· Contribute to their community
· Appreciate difference and diversity
· Participate actively in our democracy
· Safeguard the environment
· Act in the wider world in a way that makes the most of their own
and others' human potential

• The involvement of pupils, parents and the community in the planning and review of personal and social education programmes is of paramount importance if they are
to be relevant and effective.
